Hai Choo / Tua Pek Kong Temple Curry Mee

The stall was nameless so I just simply name (title above) it. Anyway name does not matter. This curry mee stall was discovered after me and SL found the tiny area where Tanjung Tokong Pasar Malam is. Tough job looking for the place.

Can you believe that we actually drove all the way up to Rasa Sayang and eventually had to patah balik. As a Penangnite, we don’t even know where Tanjung Tokong starts and which comes first, Tanjung Bunga or Batu Feringghi? : P That’s what SL said…Okok back to curry mee.

I finally found a stall that Aunty Lilian haven’t reviewed before.    (the link above leads to a review about that area)

This curry mee is not exactly the best in Penang but it sure has a special fragrant to it. At my first sip of the soup, I thought the taste and smell was familiar but couldn’t make out what izzit until I saw 2 fine strands of unidentified ingredient. I just popped it into my mouth anywayz for the sake of my curiosity. Later, I was pretty sure its bunga kantan (ginger flower). It’s sure special. I never heard ppl use that for curry me…Do you? And I also 100% assure you that the curry mee is not spicy. Lolz…Less spicy = order less water. No heavy curry paste smell as well : )

Speaking of water, that area is pretty kampong-ish and the ppl there had a laid back life where the elders just drop by the kopitiam (the place where i had my bowl of noodle), sit together and talked about the olden days.

Oh yes, another interesting part about the noodle is despite the whole bowl was packed with tau pok, jiu hoo and pig’s blood (tofu like), it costs only RM1.80. Hm I never tot I could find a stall which sells noodle with such portion at that price in this time around. LOlz…

Nevertheless, going out with my best pal completes the whole thing. Hehe.

Oppz, forgot to mention the location of the stall. Its just before you enter the temple area and the stall is on your right. For further information, plz refer to the link above. Heh, lazy d lar… And also, the stall’s open everyday except Mon and Thurs. Business starts at 2pm.
